In consultation with the Department of Education (NSW), Headspace, former teachers and support learning staff, the Goanna Academy developed the MindED Program.
Program delivery can be tailored to suit Stage 3 to Stage 6 cohorts while maintaining alignment with curriculum outcomes, student wellbeing priorities and the unique needs of each school community.
Our modules cover topics of relationships, healthy habits, self esteem, selfcare & wellbeing. This ensures students are educated in mental health awareness, able and willing to engage in conversations around mental health and understand the support services available to them.
Students participate in interactive discussions and activities designed to create safe spaces where they feel heard, supported and connected.
MindED supports the whole school community by equipping students with practical wellbeing skills, complementing existing school wellbeing initiatives, empowering parents and carers to continue conversations beyond the classroom, and helping create safe, connected environments where young people can thrive.
By bridging clinical standards with lived experience, we ensure that every conversation remains safe, supportive, and grounded in best-practice mental health frameworks.
MindED is designed to support learning outcomes across:
Every school community is different. That's why MindED combines evidence-informed curriculum themes with flexible delivery that reflects the unique strengths, challenges and priorities of your students.
"After finishing today I'm more confident to speak up, especially if I see bullying happen.. I guess I didn't realise that I can reach out to someone struggling"
"Our students connected strongly with the ambassadors and were genuinely engaged throughout the sessions, thank you Goanna Academy, you have created long lasting memories for our kids who have had it tough for a few years now between fires, floods and being that little school out of town."
"I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the work you are doing. My son attended your workshop today at school & thoroughly enjoyed the experience. He has come home and passed on what he learnt and took from today to his younger brothers."
"A sincere thank you also goes to the Goanna Academy team for continuing to lead with purpose and heart. Your ability to guide honest conversations about mental health, resilience and identity, while grounding everything in culture, gave students permission to speak openly and without fear. Mental health matters, and the way you approached it today I feel will make a real difference.
Your collective efforts helped our young people not just participate, but truly believe in themselves. Today reinforced that when we centre culture, connection, honesty and relationships, our students rise to the moment and see what is possible for their future."

We are proud and privileged to have our home on this land, and to be able to continue the long tradition of community coming together around food, begun thousands of years ago by First Nations peoples. As we stand together on this unceded land, we acknowledge that our First Nations people are the original custodians of this land and we recognise their deep connection to land, water, sky, and community which continues today. We pay our deep respects to community elders, past, present, and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture, and the hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
