MobWELL On Country is a culturally safe program designed to support young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities.
Strong cultural identity, connection to Country, family and community are factors for mental health and wellbeing for our mob.
MobWELL is designed to strengthen these connections through culturally safe, community-led experiences that empower participants and promote positive wellbeing outcomes.
Embracing identity and highlighting traditional practices and values that strengthen cultural identity.
Understanding our history and personal journey - our connection to family, kinship, and Country.
Promoting the importance of strong family ties and mentorship to maintain well-being through our connections.
Developing personal growth and resilience and to be equiped in the face of adversity.
Delivered across two on-Country visits, MobWELL provides meaningful opportunities for cultural learning, community connection and mental health education. The program is designed to foster "two-way" learning between the Goanna Academy team, local Elders, and community members, while strengthening protective factors that support long-term wellbeing.
Goanna Academy works with you to develop a tailored program. We identify the focus areas that best suit your Mob's specific needs and local cultural context.
Every visit starts with consultation and permission from local Elders.
Activities are grounded in belonging and connectedness to Country.
A 6-12 month window ensures we aren't just "dropping in."
Goanna Academy is a Supply Nation accredited Social Enterprise. We partner with the education sector and local governments to improve mental health outcomes, providing access for vulnerable youth, regional Australians, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Australia's first Indigenous-owned mental health organisation.
Absolutely. MobWELL is not a one-size-fits-all program. Every visit is developed alongside community leaders and designed to reflect local culture, protocols, priorities and participant needs.
No. While many communities choose to focus on young people, MobWELL is designed to encourage intergenerational learning and can involve children, adults, Elders and whole families.
Activities vary depending on the community and include Men's and Women's business, outdoor activities and discussions centred around identity, wellbeing and staying connected to our land.
Tell us about your community or region, and we’ll work with you to bring MobWELL to your Mob.

We are proud and privileged to have our home on this land, and to be able to continue the long tradition of community coming together around food, begun thousands of years ago by First Nations peoples. As we stand together on this unceded land, we acknowledge that our First Nations people are the original custodians of this land and we recognise their deep connection to land, water, sky, and community which continues today. We pay our deep respects to community elders, past, present, and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture, and the hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
